The much awaited MIUI 9 is out. MIUI 9 is based on Android 7.0 Nougat, and apart from Nougat features like split screen, it boasts of faster app launch times, a more dynamic resource allocation for a fluid experience, and other smart features and improvements. The Xiaomi Mi 5X is the first device to receive MIUI 9 update and Xiaomi is reportedly planning to update a total of 19 Mi and 17 Redmi series devices to the OS. So here are Top 5 Important New Features of MIUI 9!
Image search: Essentially Image is a feature that gives the functionality to search for images with help of keywords like people, location, expressions and events, similar to what we have in Google Photos and Apple Photos. Additionally the image search is also capable of searching for photos in conversations which might include SMS text messages.
Smart Assistant: Today every other company is building their own assistant and here is the Smart Assistant from Xiaomi. The Smart Assistant will come with the MIUI 9, although it isn't a perfect alternative for Google Assistant. The Assistant can be used to search for things on your smartphone like text or photos, it can also come handy while finding schedules and notes from the device.
Smart App Launcher: This feature is quite similar to Google Now on tap. On activation, the Smart App Launcher will analyze the contents on your screen and will accordingly provide users with all contextual options. Let's say for example you are talking about a location the Smart app launcher will show up Maps or if you are listening to Music it might show information about the author.
Split Screen: So we all know what's the functionality of Split Screen, this feature has been there in Android for a while and now will be available on Xaomi.
Fast App launching: Opening apps on the MIUI 9 is going to be much faster than in MIUI 8. Now without using the MIUI I can't really comment on how much fast it will be but defineately will perform better in comparison to MIUI 8.
High Quality audio: As other companies are making major improvement in the audio departments of their phones, Xiaomi has also taken a step ahead. MIUI 9 has a new audio-calibration algorithm that is said to be improving the headphone and speaker audio outputs, also it comes with a standalone audio amplifier that promises to "unleash the true potential of your headphones". This feature has functions similar to HTC's USonic app, which adapts the sound coming from the headphones to your ears.
