OnePlus 5: Secretly Waterproof?

The OnePlus 5 has got pretty much everything a mid range smartphone owner expects. Dual camera setup, lightning fast speed, an accurate fingerprint sensor, but can it survive the force of nature.Prefer a phone that is waterproof and also contains the features mentioned above. Well the OnePlus 5 is can survive in water. It is waterproof although it doesn't have an IP rating unlike Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ and Iphone 7.

For those of you who do not know what an IP rating is, it is basically a measure of how well your phone is protected from dust and moisture. For example a rating of IP66 would mean that a phone is protected against dust which may harm equipment and poorly protected from water. For more information on IP rating CLICK HERE.

Samsung S8 has an IP rating of IP68 and Iphone 7 has an IP rating of IP67, which basically means that the S8 is more waterproof( can be submerged up to 1.5 meters deep in water for about 30 minutes, while Iphone 7 can only go a meter deep before it stops functioning.

Now although OnePlus 5 doesn't have an  IP rating, it can survive underwater, although it won't respond to touches while it is underwater, but once it is out, it will not the electrical equipment inside won't be damaged and it will be functional and respond even if its still wet. But I would recommend wiping it with a towel before using it just to prevent an electricity leak(just in case). Don't believe what you are reading, well then you should watch this.
